Please visit our Neighbourhood Planning page for background information: Neighbourhood Planning
Under the Localism Act 2011, local communities can produce Neighbourhood Plans, setting out policies on the development and use of land in their area.  If the Plans are adopted by the District Council they will have the same weight as other Development Plan documents for the District.

The first stage in the neighbourhood planning process is for a Town or Parish Council, or a proposed Neighbourhood Forum, to apply to Thanet District Council for the designation of the area they consider would be appropriate to be covered by a neighbourhood plan.

Monkton Parish Council has applied to Thanet District Council to designate a Neighbourhood Plan Area (under Regulation 5 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012).

We are now consulting on this application from 20th September until 1st November 2019.

Comments can be made using our online consultation portal by following the links below, by email to local.plans@thanet.gov.uk or by post to Strategic Planning, Thanet District Council, PO Box 9, Cecil Street, Margate, Kent CT9 1XZ.

Please read the supporting statement and map of the proposed area below, and then click the link to the consultation question.

The map and statement submitted by Monkton Council explaining why the proposed neighbourhood area is appropriate are shown below and are also downloadable as PDFs.
