It was agreed that, in respect of the Proposed Revisions to the draft Thanet District Council Local Plan (Preferred Options), the following representations be sent to Thanet District Council: (g) DDC supports the revised location of the Thanet Parkway Station (Policy SP39) and welcomes the provision of journey time reductions from Ashford through to Thanet. In a spirit of reciprocity, DDC would encourage TDC to recognise DDC's aspirations to improve journey times to Dover district. Thanet Park

It goes without saying that a fully functioning Thanet Parkway Station would be able to service Manston airport, fulfilling a very necessary and useful purpose. I am aware that the need for a Parkway Station has been established over more than twenty years. I believe that the County Council and Network Rail have committed to the concept and no further consultation on this aspect of the project is necessary.

The new location is only marginally different to that previously proposed by KCC. Road access is still from the westbound carriageway of the Hengist Way but closer to the vehicular tunnel. We have concerns about the proximity to the tunnel and in particular to have both ingress and egress of vehicles from the same point. We feel that the access and egress design is not yet satisfactorily resolved. A direct link to the (possibly enlarged) existing roundabout to the west would be a safer and more

The revised location of the Parkway is too near current housing. If this goes ahead, there WILL be severe congestion within Cliffsend as commuters use the local narrow village roads to park to avoid parking payment at the station. The station will be high up on an embankment, lit at night. It will be highly visible throughout Cliffsend. The expected vehicle movements to and from the station will cause both noise and exhaust pollution to a quiet village.

Section 7 – Thanet Parkway Station * Journey times: Thanet Parkway Station has still not been proven to provide any benefits to the local community. The expected reduction in journey time to central London is negligible and appears highly unlikely to make a difference to public perceptions of travel distances. * Travel costs: On the other hand, a major off-putting factor for potential commuters is the huge cost of commuting from Thanet, with peak time returns to London costing more than onward

Network Rail is aware of the revised changes to the location of the proposed Thanet Parkway Station. Thanet District Council will need to continue to engage and work collaboratively with Network Rail as plans regarding the station progress. The proposed stations impact on a number of level crossings in the area will need to be strongly considered. The safety of the operational railway and of those crossing it is of the highest importance to Network Rail and railway crossings are of a particula

Proposed Additions to Working Draft Infrastructure Plan Several of the other proposed cycle routes could be of use to equestrians. The Durlock to Parkway Station route would make an excellent Multi User route for riders in Minster and those in Cliffs End. The Sloe Lane Improvements could be made equestrian friendly and TM5 and TB19a should retain equestrian access when they incorporate improved cycle access. Convent Road improvements could be made into Multi User routes which could then be ac

I have already submitted comments on this to the other consultation, but in summary: I support the location and objective of the railway station. However, the access road design is disruptive and dangerous. Putting traffic signals on the A299 high speed road is a poor design. Access to the station should be via slip road off the southbound A256 Richborough Road proceeding adjacent to and along the north side of the railway line. Egress from the station should be along the north side of the rai

This brings me onto the building of a new railway station, that seems totally unnessary to me and from people I have spoken to as well. Surely it would be more beneficial, if there is an abundance of money, to improve the track from Ashford to Thanet and make the train travel faster. We may have a fast train (as its called) and pay the extra to travel on it but you could get out and walk faster from Ashford. An example of this was on my recent trip to Paris on Eurostar.
