It was agreed that, in respect of the Proposed Revisions to the draft Thanet District Council Local Plan (Preferred Options), the following representations be sent to Thanet District Council: (h) DDC has ongoing concerns associated with the performance and serviceability at Brenley Corner, noting that, whilst the junction lies outside Thanet District, the additional traffic generated by the Thanet Local Plan proposals could impact on its operation in serving the A2 trunk road to Dover town and

This fails to address the need for and include the National cycle [coastal pathway] access from the Parkway and Manston areas to and from Pegwell Bay.

A case needs to be made by our being surrounded by 3 sides on water, certainly before the next local plan that we must be allowed to keep a reasonable percentage of green spaces. (When a link up with other councils was being mooted, a reaction in the Canterbury Kentish Gazette was that they could move their housing requirements in our direction). A minor but important point re visiting circuses & attractions is that both the field next to Tesco's & the previus one by the roundobouts where they

As detailed in Section 8 of the PRDLP, Kent County Council (KCC) and TDC has prepared a new Transport Strategy for the District, including proposals for new and improved roads and junctions, enhancements to public transport and an expansion of the cycling and walking network. 3.2. Paragraph 8.2 of the PRDLP identifies a key element of the strategy being a proposed Inner Circuit, serving new development and reducing pressure on the existing network. 3.3. We note the proposal for a new inner circuit road network to serve new development (e.g. Manston airport mixed use site) and relieve pressure on existing areas (e.g. Birchington). This is a combination of improved and widened existing routes and new roads. The strategic routes plan is a generic summary only which we support in principle and recognise that it requires considerable development in order to maintain environmental quality and safety.

This Policy is a new introduction to the Local Plan and essentially promotes an inner circuit to serve the new developments and reduce pressures on the existing network. In principle, we support the pro-active approach to address the highway infrastructure issues, however, we would be interested to understand how this inner circuit will be delivered. 2.2. At present the Policy simply states that all new development should make a proportionate and appropriate contribution to the provision of thi

Section 8: New Strategic Routes Policy The strategic route includes widening of Nash Road and Shottendane Road. There are significant roundabouts and several additional roads proposed close to popular riding routes. The removal of TM11 (Half Mile Ride) and TM16 bridleways would force riders onto the even busier roads. TDC and KCC may not be aware that TM14 was granted as a permissive bridleway in 1997 to create a workable bridle route connecting TM15 (bridleway between Woodchurch and California
