The Sustainability Appraisal reviews proposed policy SP05 and concludes that the policy is beneficial in terms of socio-economic objectives and will clearly contribute to the District’s housing supply and improvements to community facilities such as the provision of a new primary school. The site is well connected

The New Mitigation Settlement Study (November 2016) considers if and how a new settlement option could be developed in a sustainable manner in order to assist in the delivery of the Council’s Objectively Assessed Need for housing growth in the District over the plan period. The study assessed a number of options for new settlement locations, two of which together comprise the extent of the red line boundary for the live masterplan application being advanced by our client: NS4 (known as the ‘Northern Grasslands’) and NS5 (the principle former airport site).

We agree that NS4 and NS5 will deliver permanent, direct, short and long term benefits across the majority of sustainability objectives assessed. We have the following detailed comments to make on this study:
